Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman

DID you catch Joaquin Phoenix’s bizarre appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” last night? Well if that wasn’t one of the most awkward interviews you ever did see.

Did In true Letterman style though, he made something out of an uncomfortable performance by Phoenix, and provided laughs for the crowd, even if they were only nervous giggles.

UPDATE:  The return appearance

A year and a half after the infamous interview (above), Joaquin returned to the Ed Sullivan Theater to fess up on what his bizarre behaviour was really all about. And Dave? Well Dave just wanted to get his cut of the stunt earnings.

    Just in case you missed it a couple of weeks ago. Unbelievable. I can only hope his behaviour of late is part of some complex and prolonged “Punk’d” skit or something…

    I watched this and although initially amused started to feel very sorry for him. I think Letterman was a little insensitive also, the guy obviously has drug and/or mental problems which is a little too easy to make jokes of.

    I did however scan you-tube looking for more material and found him attempting to rap and falling off the stage. Gold Jerry! I did laugh then.

    My bullsh*t detector just went berserk. That there is the definition of “bunging it on”. And ‘’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – Letterman is not funny, nor witty. Hard to pick the bigger tool in this clip.
