#Musicmonday – #043

ABIG week in music has just passed us by as the long-awaited and speculated about launch of Twitter’s #music project, a collaboration with Brisbane’s (now in San Francisco) “We Are Hunted” crew.

Last week also saw the much-hyped release of Daft Punk’s first new single for quite a while in “Get Lucky”. It was pretty much a shoe-in to kick off this week’s #MusicMonday, but I figure there’s scant chance that you HAVEN’T already heard it, and it doesn’t really fit the distinct “Aussie” flavour I wanted to run with this week.

Yes, each and every song listed below is from an amazingly large current pool of talented, up-and-coming Aussie artists who are commanding more international attention than any time I can recall before.

Anyway, enough from me. Enjoy… and if you do enjoy, let me know!

1. “You’re Still Gone” – Gold Fields

BALLARAT, AUSTRALIA

Yet another great track from “Gold Fields” who are killing it in the US right now supporting “Capital Cities” and are fast becoming one of the most successful Aussie acts of 2013 so far.

Not available on SoundCloud. Boo!

2. “Ohio” – Kingswood

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

More than capable live as displayed by this performance in Sydney, “Kingswood” are easily one of our top rock acts right now. I saw them support “The Bamboos” recently & was VERY impressed!

3. “Is This How You Feel” – The Preatures

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

I LOOVE “Grace Potter & The Nocturnals”, so naturally when I heard Sydney outfit “The Preatures” play this track in their support set for “Hungry Kids of Hungary” earlier this week, I was HOOKED!

4. “Closure” – Owl Eyes

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

23 year old “Owl Eyes” aka Brooke Addamo, a former Australian Idol finalist and “Triple J Hottest 100” veteran is coming up with hit after hit these days. “Closure” is her latest offering & was a no-brainer to add to this week’s list.

5. “We Have Love” – Panama

Sydney, Australia

Stoked to see this 5-piece Sydney band back on the radar with another killer pop track in “We Have Love”.
