#Musicmonday – #044

SPLENDOUR in the Grass 2013, Australia’s #1 alternative music festival held in beautiful Byron Bay, was the talk of the town this week, as this year’s stellar artist lineup was released headed up by “Mumford & Sons”, “The National” and “Frank Ocean”.

If that wasn’t enough big show news for one week, “Bernard Fanning” also popped up to announce a new album, national tour and to release his great new single “Battleships” which kicks off this week’s list of tracks.

1. “Battleships” – Bernard Fanning

It’s been FAR TOO long since Bernard’s multi-award winning debut solo album “Tea & Sympathy”. His follow up “Departures” is due to launch June 7, preceding a national tour kicking off in Nambour on July 14.

2. “Attracting Flies” – Aluna George

Oh how this addictive track has stuck in my mind this week. UK electronic duo Aluna George are new to me, but as they continue to attract critical acclaim in the UK, I doubt it will be the last time I hear from them.

Not available on SoundCloud. Boo!

3. “Another Guy” – Travis

A sentimental inclusion this week. I always have loved “Travis”, and I probably always will. So naturally, here’s their new single “Another Guy” for your listening pleasure.

4. “À tout à l’heure” – Bibio

With its distinctively continental European sounding title which means “See you soon”, British producer “Bibio” (Stephen Wilkinson) has delivered an easy listening gem in “À tout à l’heure”.

5. “San Francisco” – The Mowgli’s

Los Angeles, USA

As I like to do on occasion, let me wind things up this week with a fun, upbeat number, this time by LA’s “The Mowgli’s” and their infectious track “San Francisco”.
