Fittingly, I LOVE this week’s selection below. As is often the case, there’s a few new tunes from emerging Aussie artists, and a couple of great tracks out of ol’ Blighty and the US of A, including a killer cover of a 90’s anthem.
Take your ears off their leash. Go forth, and enjoy.
1. “That Loneliness” – Jagwar Ma
It’s a big, bold call, but “Jagwar Ma” may very well prove to be the “breakout Aussie act” of 2013 given the strength of the Sydney duo’s debut album “Howlin”, released earlier this month.
2. “Love Is Gone” – Oxford & Co.
You know that rad feeling you get when the song you find yourself putting “on repeat” for the week, comes from a relatively unknown local band? This is it for me this week. Look for the killer changeup at 1:28min.
3. “What Is Love” – Jaymes Young
LOS ANGELES, USA
4. “Seen It All” – Jake Bugg
Nominated in this year’s BRIT Awards for the “British Breakthrough Act” award, UK teenager Jake Bugg continues to release great tracks with a maturity well beyond his years.
5. “Listen to Soul, Listen to Blues” – Safia
I’m no big fan of “Hip Hop” – I’m sure that’s pretty evident if you look over the #MusicMonday archives. But once in a while, a beat-laden belter pops up that just gets stuck in my head. Just picture yourself by the pool, Mojito in hand, kicking back to the beats of “Smoke Trails” just loving life as the sun sets over another stunning Summer’s day. Yup. Love it.
