#Musicmonday - #060 → Arcade Fire Arcade Fire

#Musicmonday – #060

IT’S September and that means the start of a couple of months of HUGE album and single releases! This week’s selection of tracks features some bands that will likely feature highly in my end of year “Best of 2013” wraps and there’s a couple of bonus cover tunes tacked on the end for good measure.

Let’s get into it.

1. “Reflektor” – Arcade Fire

Famously leaked onto the web a week ago, days before its official release, Arcade Fire’s new single “Reflektor” is a 7+ minute feast of disco awesomeness! Their new album will drop internationally on October 28th.

Google Chrome users, if you’re happy enough to surrender control of your web cam to the “Google Machine”, the band have also released a pretty cool “interactive” music video which can be found here: justareflektor.com

One last thing… I’m just putting out out there – this track WILL be in the Top 10 for 2013’s TripleJ Hottest 100, if not the Top 5. Big, early call, but not that crazy a concept. It’s that good!

Not available on SoundCloud. Boo!

2. “Help Me Lose My Mind” – Disclosure (ft. London Grammar)

London Grammar’s debut album “If You Wait” launched last week and the world is officially a better place for it! Included up the back of the album is this great track by UK electronic duo Disclosure, featuring the unmistakable voice of London Grammar’s Hannah Reid (@Hannahfmreid).

3. “Hurricane” – Owl Eyes

Aussie songstress Owl Eyes (Brooke Addamo) recently offered up this great pop track – the 4th release from her debut album “Nightswim”. Catchy. Nice. Enjoy.

4. “Money Rain Down” – Big Black Delta

What can I say, I’m a sucker for gratuitous “sax” in a song and former Mellowdrone frontman Jonathan Bates has nailed this one, under the guise of his current project Big Black Delta.

5. “Sons & Lovers” – Black Light Dinner Party

With their debut album “Sons & Lovers” due out next week, New Yorkers “Black Light Dinner Party” have dropped their title track filled with heavy pulsing synth-bass-y goodness, complimenting lead man Jack Côté’s distinctive vocals.

1. “In For the Kill (La Roux Cover)” – London Grammar

Suffice to say, I can’t get enough of these guys right now. Check out this moody cover of La Roux’s “In For The Kill”.

2. “Dancing On My Own (Robyn Cover)” – Kings of Leon

Also laying down a great cover in the BBC Radio 1 “Live Lounge” last week was Kings of Leon with this cover of Swedish pop star Robyn’s hit “Dancing On My Own”.
