1. “Where I Find You” – Dustin Tebbutt
NEW ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA
As the year rocks along to the “pointy end”, you kind of get to thinking about who is going to fill your various “best of” lists. If there was a “favourite new Australian artists” list somewhere in the mix, Dustin Tebbutt, for me, would be a name that would feature.
“Where I Find You” is the follow up track to his brilliant debut single “The Breach” which popped up on #MusicMonday back in July.
2. “Waterfall” – Alex Lloyd
Kirsten and I were lucky enough to catch Alex Lloyd, one of Australia’s most talented male singer/songwriters of the past couple of decades, play over the weekend.
I have to be honest and question his venue booking, however, as we found ourselves travelling down to the God awful “Springwood Hotel” (yes, there’s a reason why you’ve probably NEVER heard of it before). Thank goodness the music was top notch, because everything else about the place certainly was not…
While his latest single “Waterfall” isn’t yet available on SoundCloud, you can link through to a special acoustic version of his new single here.
3. “Mirror” – Ellie Goulding
A great new single from Ellie Goulding popped up this week along with offerings from the likes of Coldplay, Sia, The National & The Weeknd on the brand new soundtrack to the new movie “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”.
While many of the other tracks were worthy of featuring this week, Ellie’s haunting effort is a standout.
4. “Others” – Nimmo & The Gauntletts
Fronted by vocalists Sarah Nimmo and Reva Gauntlett (you just had an “ahhhh!” moment, didn’t you), Londoners Nimmo & The Gauntletts have crafted a hell of a catchy chorus on this one. You’ll see what I mean…
5. “Daisy May” – We The Wild
…and a little alt-pop to close things off this week with this track from London’s We The Wild. “Daisy May” is pulled from the boys’ debut EP “Vol. 1”.
