#Musicmonday – #069

FRESH from an amazing night under the stars with City & Colour here in Brisbane, here are my picks for this week’s round of #MusicMonday fresh tracks.

1. “It Gets Cold” – Eliza & The Bear

LONDON, UK

With tinges of The Lighthouse & The Whaler and Of Monsters & Men, this track from London band Eliza & The Bear was always going to be a contender for me.

A note for any aspiring indie folk-pop bands out there, make sure you have a “&” in your band name. Clearly it helps…

2. “Brighter Lights” – Patrick James

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Patrick James is without doubt one of the most talented up-and-coming singer/songwriters in Australia and I was stoked to have been given tickets by Kirsten to catch him in his first headlining show in Brisbane, earlier last week.

“Brighter Lights” is the opening track on his current 5-track EP release “All About to Change”. Look out for big things from Patrick in 2014!

3. “Only One” – John Butler Trio

FREMANTLE, AUSTRALIA

The John Butler Trio are back with a great new track called “Only One”. It’s a “tropical” little number with a splash of steel drums, but still retains the signature “JBT” sound!

4. “On My Own” – Zero7

LONDON, UK

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a quality “chillout” number, but I think I’ve found a beauty in London duo Zero7’s “On My Own” featuring vocals by Australia’s Danny Pratt.

Give the 12″ version below a spin and mellow out for 9 minutes or so.

5. “Sleeping At Your Door” – Lime Cordiale

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Official earworm warning: These young Aussie lads from Sydney, going by the name Lime Cordiale, have released a track with one hell of a melodically catchy chorus. Stick with it… you’ll soon hear what I mean.
