With this historical event in mind, it seems only fitting that I kick off this week’s #MusicMonday with the following fantastic track by a little band you may have head of before – U2.
Rest in peace, “Madiba”.
1. “Ordinary Love” – U2
Hot on the heels of the announcement that we’ll have a new album from the legendary Irish rockers in our hands in April next year, U2 have released a tribute song to the late, great, Nelson Mandela in “Ordinary Love”.
The track appears on the soundtrack to the Harvey Weinstein produced movie “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”.
“The band saw various cuts of the film over the summer and worked diligently to write a song that truly reflects Nelson Mandela. I think they did a brilliant job honouring the man and the leader they have known for over 20 years,” said Weinstein.
2. “Distraction (Jaymes Young Mix)” – Phaeleh
LOS ANGELES, USA
3. “The Other One” – JP Maurice
If nothing else, JP wins this week’s “film clip that looked the most fun to shoot” award!
4. “Thunder Clatter” – Wild Cub
Props to @michd10 for dropping this gem in my lap earlier in the week.
Nashville quartet Wild Cub have dished up a catchy, summery, number here in “Thunder Clatter”. Check it out.
5. “Snap Out Of It” – Arctic Monkeys
Officially one of my favourite acts of 2014, the Arctic Monkeys have a near complete album in “AM” and I’m stoked to have landed some pretty sweet tickets for their upcoming tour through Brisbane in May 2014!
