Every afternoon at sunset, like clockwork, a selection of beautiful Australian birds show up at my parent’s house for a feed. Usually it’s an army of Rainbow Lorikeets that show up. But every now and then, the unmistakable screeching of Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos can be heard as 2,3,4, and sometimes more large white feathered friends descend on the backyard ready to take over at the feeding bowl.
On this particular afternoon as we waited for the new year (2010) to ring in, I happened to have my camera on me when two particularly playful “cockies” arrived. I don’t expect anyone to believe me, but I took one shot and one shot only. The handsome fella on the TV antenna was my intended subject, but his mate just happened to make a well timed cameo appearance.
