Just a quick one to let y'all know Kirsten and I have arrived safely in Launceston, Tasmania after a super fun weekend in Melbourne.

I have now officially "meet the parents" in Amy and Trevor (who are just super lovely and welcoming people) after they were at the airport late last night to pick us up and ferry us back into Launceston's inner-city area where we all stayed at a great little historical hotel known as the Leisure Inn Penny Royal Hotel & Apartments.

Starting life as a corn mill in 1840 about 54 kilometres away from its current location, the property was lovingly and painstakingly moved stone by stone over some 130 years to take the form of the hotel that stands today. Pretty amazing stuff.

"Home" in Devonport

Heading back to Amy and Trevor's place in Devonport, leaving the increasing rain behind us in Launceston, we knocked over a little local sightseeing while taking some time to catch up properly.

We had a sweet lunch by the water at Devonpor's super impressive Surf Life Saving Club and went for a stroll around to The Mersey Bluff Lighthouse (below).

In the evening, Kirsten and I went for a walk up a large hill nearby to her parent’s place, then down to the ocean where we were able to catch a nice sunset over the aforementioned Mersey Bluff Lighthouse, in the distance.

With the start of our touring plans kicking off at the crack of dawn in the morning, it's time to get some shut eye and dream about the amazing things we're going to see at Cradle Mountain over the next couple of days.

Here's hoping that the bad weather we experienced in Launceston this morning stays well away! Cross your fingers for us!
