So what does $55 bucks buy you these days? The tendency is to sigh and murmur "not much". Have no fear, o' faithful readers. $55 can still buy you a bloody good rock concert given what I experienced at Brisbane's "The Hi-fi" last night.
Widely regarded as a "must-see" LIVE act, New Orleans rockers Mutemath have been on my radar for a LONG time and I was stoked when they announced that they would be returning to Australia for a national tour in 2013.

Last night, not only did they make good on that announcement, but they also nabbed themselves a spot in my all-time top ten live shows list. I'm not sure EXACTLY where in the list yet, but they are in there for sure following their 2+ hour set performing HUGE tracks from their 3-studio-album catalogue, including "Blood Pressure", "Typical", "Allies", "Collapse", "Prytania" and, of course their outstanding instrumental abilities showcased on tracks like "Obsolete" & "Reset".

If I have one criticism for the evening, and I honestly have to dig REAL deep to find one, it's that the basic lighting wasn't exactly what you would come to expect of a more established venue like my beloved "Tivoli Theatre" (take last night for example). With better lighting, I would have caught Paul's massive leap from atop his organ to the waiting inflatable crowd surfing device a few rows back to round off the night! Brilliant!
