Although the Brisbane Festival is a little lighter on the "wow factor" this year, one thing has thankfully remained true: the ornate, wooden structure known as the "Spiegeltent" has returned once again, bringing with it the opportunity to showcase a smorgasbord of entertainment including tonight's main event, a performance by Brisbane's own The Kite String Tangle.
Opening his sold out, two-night stand under the Spiegeltent tonight, Danny Harley, who is currently known by his solo project moniker "The Kite String Tangle" (TKST), launched into an hour-long set of blissful electronica that covered all the tracks from his recently released 6-track debut EP Vessel.
With a little help from a quartet of string-toting friends, including Danny's sister (so I am led to believe), TKST also performed his own stripped back, reworked take on Adventure Club's track "Wonder" for the first time live. It was a real highlight of the night. If you missed it, you can check it out below.
Tonight and tomorrow night's shows in Brisbane all but close out The Kite String Tangle's 15-date tour of Australia over the past month. If you're keen to catch the show for yourself tomorrow night, I'm sorry, but like me, you're shit outta luck as it's SOLD OUT, just like the rest of his entire tour.
Anyway, it was a big thrill for me and Kirsten to catch the show tonight. The Kite String Tangle is definitely an artist on the rise and someone we will hopefully hear a lot more from over the coming 12 months.
Cheers for the great night Danny!
