I remember posting to Instagram last night saying something like, "I'm in the freakin' Opera House!".
Yes, I fulfilled yet another "Bucket List" item here in wet, wet Sydney this weekend (my first legitimate visit EVER to the Harbour City), by catching The Temper Trap in the second of their two night stand at the Sydney Opera House, Australia's most iconic building, as part of Sydney's annual Vivid Festival.
Launching their highly anticipated self-titled second album only a few weeks ago, Dougy and the lads rolled out a number of their newest hits like "Rabbit Hole", "Need Your Love", "London's Burning" and the mega anthem "Trembling Hands", interspersed with a number of crowd pleasers from their debut album, "Conditions" including "Down River", "Fader", "Love Lost", "Drum Song" (see below) and of course, their biggest hit to date, "Sweet Disposition".
The performance brought the entire hall to its feet on many occasions and knowing that it was probably the last time we'll see the band in Australia for quite a while as they take off for North America and Europe next, I soaked up every last minute of it.
Not only was The Temper Trap in fine form tonight, but I have to give huge props to their lighting guy(s), whoever you are. Spectacular! I wasn't exactly in the best spot for the sort of shots I was lucky enough to capture when I saw the band a couple of times in Vancouver back in 2010 (see here and here), but here's a few that give you a bit of an idea what we were all lucky enough to witness last night!
A big thanks to my buddy @sydneyaly for being my musical date for the evening. I appreciate it Ali – thanks so much for being a fantastic tour guide all weekend!
